Our Story

In the early 1990s, bareroot perennials were not easily available, especially on the East Coast. Having a necessity for this product but nowhere to purchase it reliably, Ray Blew founded BlewLine Nursery in hopes of filling this need.

BlewLine was purchased by Ray's grandsons, Donald and Bob Blew, in 2006. They knew that the business could not survive on daylilies alone; from here, the decision was made to expand into bareroot shrubs.

Over the years since, the business has grown into offering more than 100 varieties of bareroot shrubs from some of the best breeders around the world. In 2016, BlewLine struck a sales agreement with Star Roses & Plant who is now the exclusive sales outlet for BlewLine Nursery product.
